EirBLADE engages with wind industry on decommissioning

Dr. Vesna Jaksic of Munster Technological University has secured competitive Challenge funding from Science Foundation Ireland for EirBLADE - a digital blade repository for repurposing.

EirBLADE is currently in the Concept phase of the SFI Challenge. The EirBLADE team is engaging with stakeholders including wind developers, procurers of repurposed blades, regulatory authorities to determine their decommissioning needs and challenges. The EirBLADE team also includes Dr. Paul Leahy of Re-Wind UCC & BladeBridge and Dr. Cormac Ó Súilleabhain of Cork County Council as societal champion.
