Gabriel Ackall presents to the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Sustainability Committee

On Wednesday, May 22, Gabriel Ackall of Georgia Tech presented to the ASCE SEI Sustainability Committee’s group on circular economies, a group of approximately 20 structural engineers focused on reusing structural material and giving it a second life. He discussed how Re-Wind is creating a circular economy for wind turbine blades as well as steps the Georgia Tech team has taken in their design of two BladeBridges to be installed in Atlanta. Throughout his presentation, he covered the various design considerations that structural engineers must face during the process of repurposing materials.
