Re-Wind USA wins DoE Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize

The Re-Wind USA team based in Georgia Tech is one of the fifteen winners of the US Department of Energy’s Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize.

Re-Wind’s blade repurposing solutions were selected for Phase I funding from the Prize Program alongside other circular economy projects focusing on recovery of rare earth metals, recycling of magnets and mechanical recycling of composite materials.

Re-Wind’s prize is part of a $5.1 million, two-phase competition funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The program aims to create a sustainable recycling industry for wind turbine materials which are currently not recycled commercially, such as glass fiber-reinforced composites and rare earth elements.
