EirBLADE project selected for Energy Innovation Grow Phase
The EirBLADE project has been selected by an international expert jury to reach the final stage of the Research Ireland Energy National Challenge.
EirBLADE is a circular economy initiative which is enabling the repurposing of decommisioned wind turbine blades into innovative new structures and products. EirBLADE is developing testing protocols and a digital blade repository which will eliminate barriers to reusing these valuable structures.
The Grow phase of the Energy Innovation Challenge gives significant additional funding to the EirBLADE project to develop a digital blade repurposing platform and the supporting blade data.
EirBLADE is led by Dr Vesna Jaksic of Munster Technological University and co-led by Dr Paul Leahy of UCC.
